We are frequently asked how much a particular injury or accident is worth
in compensation. Although we handle thousands of claims each year, recovering millions of pounds
in compensation for our clients, every case is different. The amount of compensation you
could receive will depend on a number of different factors, including, but not limited to:
- Your age at the time of the accident
Awards are usually greater for young people, as any
permanent injuries will affect them for a greater proportion of their lives.
- The severity of the injury
Awards made for minor injuries such as cuts and bruises are lower
than awards made for claims involving broken bones, internal injuries or brain damage.
- The length of time taken to recover
Awards for injuries that resolve within a few weeks of
the accident will be less than awards for injuries that take several years to recover, or where serious injuries
have been sustained, leaving the victim with permanent symptoms.
- Whether the injury caused a level of disability
It is a sad fact that some personal injuries
can leave you with a permanent level of disability; this will be assessed by a medical expert as
part of the process of making a compensation claim.
Despite this, personal injury awards do tend to fall into categories or brackets. We are able to
give you an approximate estimation of how much compensation you might expect to receive due to
your injuries.
